Ambiguously Gay Duo @ Artjail_projectfreelance

2011.05.15_14:03

Had the pleasure to work with Kevin Harper and Graham Holly on some vfx for the live action portion of an AGD episode. For three days we modeled, rigged, animated, and rendered passes for butt and crotch magic. :D

Check it out! http://www.bureaublank.com/
I worked closely with the awesome team at Bureau Blank to make assets for their website. With them we developed long panoramas of their space with them interacting with the main words that embody Bureau Blank. Also creating the main page animation and shooting mugshots for their company page. It was fun! See the results below.

Maginniss + del Ninno Architects: holiday greeting animation_projectfreelance

2010.12.31_09:20

Two weeks before Christmas I was working on this little project with a friend, Leah Lin. An awesomely talented illustrator, internet guru, and desert maker. The client asked simply to have their company name at the end of an animation that jived with the holidays. We started out with some hilarious google doc brainstorming/collaboration for what the animation would be about. We presented three storyboarded options before getting the green light on one and starting development. Leah made awesome illustrations/concepts which I followed for the look and feel of the animation. I was responsible for all the 3d; building the geometry, texturing, camera work, and final rendering and compositing.

Here are some behind the scenes of the process –

ps: I was very proud of the candle flames on the candles in the interior… I setup a little video shoot in my kitchen with a candle – the video of flame was composited into shot.

TrueWomb™ animation_projectfreelance

2010.08.19_12:33

Working for about a month with the folks over at ASGVIS (www.asgvis.com) – we put together an animation for TrueWomb (www.truewomb.com). They wanted a 3d simulation of their product, a onesie straight jacket for babies which is suppose to mimic the womb. I was initially contracted to focus on the animation for the baby but quickly took on all aspects of the animation and simulation – working out how the actual clothing would animation around the body of the baby. Animation and simulations were delivered to ASGVIS who put together the camera work, rendered, and did final compositing for the project.

Tim Hunter Design, 3d animation work_projectfreelance

2010.07.22_11:17

studio: Tim Hunter Design (THD)
client: Exxon Mobil

So I had the chance to work with a great group of freelancers for a few months over at THD. We were revamping a few spots for Exxon Mobil, taking previous low quality 3d animation and giving it more of a realistic and high quality twist to it. I got to take several shots practically from beginning to end, submitting style frames every week and pumping out HD animations like a mad man.

Here are a few stills that represent the work I was doing:

Most of this was modeling, texturing, look developing, and then some camera work. These are stills from various points of each of the scenes I worked on and later during production they were picked up by other artists for changes requested by the client.

Longtail motion capture work_projectfreelance

2010.05.08_11:52

Starting late in 2009 and into early 2010, I’ve been working at Longtail Studios as their ‘motion capture specialist’.  This basically entailed learning all there was to learn about the Xsens motion capture suit, as well as building the pipeline of getting the data from the suit onto a computer, into motionbuilder, and finally 3dsmax.

Another project for SURROUND. Lower thirds and bug for Nickelodeon’s ‘Massive Movie Monday’ – It wasn’t used by Nick but it was a good exercise in using 3dmax with after effects. All elements, the text for the bug, the stars, and camera with spinning reels was done in 3dmax.

the bug

tada.

Nickelodeon_ident_pitch@SURROUND_projectfreelance

2009.08.24_13:55

I worked for a week on some Nickelodeon ident stuff with this studio SURROUND.  The first batch of animations were for the pitch package to  Nick. Based on illustrators drawings, I 3d modeled their likeness and brought them to life.

best example

each of these was done in around half a day to a day, basically sketches to help give Nickelodeon a better idea of how the illustrations would come to life.

GE lighting styles@Firstborn_projectfreelance

2009.08.14_12:54

While working at Firstborn, I got to help in visualizing two new rooms for the GE lighting styles site.  The project went as smooth as butter and I had a blast working on it and getting it tweaked just right. There was no room to go all photoshop gung-ho since each room needed to be rendered into six versions, each with a single light being added to the scene.

Here was the end result:

Two different styles of the same room.  The first is a ‘dramatic’ theme and the second is an ‘eco’ theme.
