The Brown Center came from above!? This was an old skool attempt at showing where that funky looking building came from.  The Brown Center was our brand new technology building on my school's campus.  Using video and 3d I was able to remove the building and insert it in again in cg when the ufo beamed it down.  Masking of certain parts of the video footage was done in an old skool ghetto way by creating 3d masks and tracking them by hand to the video footage.  The 3d would render out pre-masked to integrate into the video.
